11/313/22 W.T. Rich Represents at Mass Girls in Trades Conference
W.T. Rich team members met and networked with female students from various eastern Massachusetts technical high schools today at the Massachusetts Girls in Trades (GIT) Conference and Career Fair held at the IBEW Local 103 in Dorchester, MA.
Launched in 2015 by a partnership of educational, governmental and union organizations, the Massachusetts GIT is committed to supporting and encouraging female career and technical education students and alumnae to pursue careers in union construction trades.
The workshop gave over 100 female students the opportunity to hear from tradeswomen who found success in the industry, learn about union apprenticeship programs and the application process, and ask questions about potential avenues they may want to pursue.
The event also featured a raffle, a “Becoming a Union Tradeswoman” workshop and a lunch funded by W.T. Rich Company and other various sponsors.
Although there is certainly more work to be done to fully eliminate the obstacles for women in construction, W.T. Rich will continue to create, support and maintain an equal and inclusive culture where current and future generations of female construction workers are provided an equal opportunity to succeed.
