09/265/22 Michelle Wright Speaks at Equity in Focus Summit

At the “Equity in Focus Summit” at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, W.T. Rich Company’s Michelle Wright spoke about the importance of gender and racial equity in the trades on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022. Discussions focused on policies, programs and strategies in use at the national, state and local levels charged at using federal funds to increase job equality and advance equity for women and communities of color.

Michelle spoke on behalf of the Policy Group on Tradeswomen’s Issues (PGTI), a regional collaboration of construction industry stakeholders committed to shattering the barriers to women’s access to equitable jobs in the union construction trades. As a heavily involved committee member, Michelle works to develop customized assistance and exposure to women and people of color of all ages.

She explained that one of the greatest challenges women in the industry often face is the feeling that they have to make a choice between their family and having a career. At W.T. Rich Company, Michelle said, she feels supported in her strong commitment to both.

Since joining W.T. Rich in 2021, Michelle assumed a field leadership role at the MDRP (Multi-Department Relocation Plan – City Hall Cambridge) project – a complex renovation of the historic Cambridge City Hall. Currently, she is working on the McCormack Building Renovations project. A seasoned veteran, Michelle is always striving to improve her craft while staying committed to achieving an equitable industry for every woman and person of color.
